Judas Priest Tickets featuring Testament in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Wamu Theater at Qwest Field Tickets, Concerts

One of the earliest Rock bands is coming to Seattle. Judas Priest is straight out of the 70’s and they want to see you. Come to the WaMu Theater for the show. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Judas Priest have influenced all metal music since the late-mid 70s either directly or indirectly. Their influence was so important that MTV.com named Judas Priest the second most important band in heavy metal, just behind Black Sabbath.

In addition to the sound, Judas Priest are also known for being revolutionaries in heavy metal fashion. Rob Halford began incorporating a macho/biker/S&M style into his look as early as 1978 (to coincide with the release of their album Killing Machine), and the rest of the band followed. It became a mainstay in heavy metal; soon, several other bands, particularly of the NWOBHM and early black metal movements, began incorporating Halford’s fashion into their look as well. This sparked a revival in metal in the early ’80s, and catapulted them to fame, in both the mainstream and underground. Even in the present, it is not uncommon to find metal artists sporting such a look at concerts.

On few occasions Judas Priest music has also served as score music to serve the heavy metal cliché. A good example is an episode of the German crime investigation series Derrick called “Verlorene Wuerde” (German for “Lost Dignity”), first aired May, 31st, 1991. In this episode a young drug addict is also a fan of heavy metal music. As he is quizzed by the police in his apartment, “Painkiller” by Judas Priest and “Psycho Holiday” by Pantera plays from the stereo system.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Wamu Theater at Qwest Field Tickets, Concerts

Lynyrd Skynyrd is a weird name. They are coming to Seattle to play at the Wamu theater. Here is some info from wiki:

Lynyrd Skynyrd (pronounced ‘lĕh-’nérd ’skin-’nérd) (or IPA pronunciation: [lɛ’nɝd skɪ’nɝd]) is an iconic U.S. Southern rock band. The band reached prominence during the 1970s under the leadership of vocalist and primary songwriter Ronnie Van Zant until he died, along with several other members of the band, in a plane crash in 1977 in McComb, Mississippi.

The band was named after Leonard Skinner, a gym teacher/basketball coach for some of the members at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Lynyrd Skynyrd was one of the most critically acclaimed Southern Rock groups (although the term did not exist at the time they formed) of the 1970s and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as of March 13, 2006. Their distinctive triple-lead guitar sound made their songs “Free Bird”, and “Sweet Home Alabama” American anthems and staples of FM radio. Members inducted include: singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarists Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Ed King, and Steve Gaines, bassist Leon Wilkeson, keyboard player Billy Powell, and drummers Bob Burns and Artimus Pyle.

Evanescence Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Wamu Theater at Qwest Field Tickets, Concerts

Evanescence got big after their song that got on the Dare Devil soundtrack. They are coming to Seattle soon to play at the Wamu theater. Here is some info from wiki:

Evanescence was founded by singer, pianist and songwriter Amy Lee and former lead guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody. The two met in 1994 at a youth camp in Little Rock, Arkansas, where Moody heard Lee playing “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” by Meat Loaf on the piano. Their first songs were “Solitude” and “Give Unto Me,” written by Lee, “Understanding”, and “My Immortal”, written by Moody. The songs were edited by both artists, and they shared equal credit.

Two of Lee and Moody’s songs found playtime on local radio stations, raising local awareness of the group and demand for a show. The band eventually appeared live, and became one of the most popular acts in the area. After experimenting with band names, such as Childish Intentions and Stricken, they decided on Evanescence, which means “disappearance” or “fading away” (from the word evanesce, which means “to disappear”). Lee has stated she loves the name because “it is mysterious and dark, and places a picture in the listeners’ mind”.

Their first full-length demo CD, Origin (released in 2000), is relatively unknown. The band also released two Extended plays (EPs). First, the self-titled Evanescence EP (1998) of which about 100 copies were made, and second the Sound Asleep EP, also known as the Whisper EP (1999), limited to 50 copies. Origin and the EPs contain demo versions of some of the songs on their debut album, Fallen. For example, the recording of “My Immortal” found on Fallen can also be found on Origin, minus a handful of additional string accompaniments. Only 2500 copies of this record were produced; in response, Lee and Moody encouraged fans to download the band’s older songs from the Internet.

By: Spencer    Category: Wamu Theater at Qwest Field Tickets, Concerts

I don’t know a thing about Interpol, but I am sure I have heard their music. They are coming to the Wamu Theater soon so get your tickets quick. Here is some info from their wiki:

Interpol is an American indie rock band, formed in 1998. The members of the band are Paul Banks (vocals, rhythm guitar), Daniel Kessler (lead guitar, back vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass, keyboards - commonly referred to as Carlos D.), and Sam Fogarino (drums). Their debut album Turn on the Bright Lights was critically acclaimed, while the follow-up, Antics, has been both a commercial and critical success.

Interpol are one of many bands commonly associated with the New York indie music scene. They are one of several groups that emerged out of the Garage Rock/Post-Punk Revival of the 2000s, along with contemporaries such as The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The band’s sound is generally a mix of bass throb and choppy, sparse guitar, drawing constant comparisons to post-punk bands Joy Division, The Chameleons and Kitchens of Distinction.

Here are some factoids about the All-American Rejects from their Wiki page:

The All-American Rejects are an American power pop band that formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Their latest album Move Along was released in 2005 while the single “Dirty Little Secret” reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2006 and number 18 in the UK top 40 in June 2006.

In the summer of 2001, the Rejects released the EP Same Girl, New Songs and began to tour the American Midwest. By the tour’s end, the band had signed a contract with Doghouse Records — the label of such bands as River City High and The Get Up Kids.

Then, in 2002, with producer Tim O’Heir (who had, in the past, worked with bands like Superdrag, Sebadoh, and Juliana Hatfield), the Rejects recorded their international debut album. From this album came the single “Swing, Swing,” for which the Rejects were best-known for several years. The self-titled album hit stores on October 15 of that year.

In 2005, the group released their new album, Move Along on July 12, from which came the single “Dirty Little Secret”. The music video features images from collective art project PostSecret. The second single “Move Along” was released in January 2006. In August 2006, the third single, “It Ends Tonight”, was released.

In 2006, the band toured around the US with Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, From First to Last, The Hush Sound, and October Fall in the Black Clouds and Underdogs Tour.

They are going on a headlining tour in the fall of 2006 called “Tournado” with Motion City Soundtrack, The Starting Line, The Format, Gym Class Heroes, and Boys Like Girls.
