In 1936, the Cougars were retroactively awarded the 1917 National Championship by the Helms Athletic Foundation. The Cougar basketball team holds the dubious record of participating in the lowest scoring National Championship basketball game in Division I history, losing to Wisconsin 39-34 in the 1941 National Championship Game. The team played to large crowds in the late-1970s when George Raveling was head coach. At that time, the Cougars were among the Pac-10 conference’s top teams. The 1990s saw a major decline in support as the team floundered. However, there was the beginning of a resurgence under coach Dick Bennett. The 2004-2005 season saw a large increase in student support as the team finished within a few wins of a .500 record (along with a stunning upset win against eventual Elite Eight team Arizona). Bennett retired at the end of the 2005-2006 season and was replaced by his son, Tony. Before becoming head coach, Tony Bennett spent three seasons as an assistant to his father, the last two seasons as associate head coach.

The Blind Boys of Alabama is coming to spread the gospel stuff through music. Come to the Moore theater here in Seattle of the show. Here is some info from wikipedia

The Blind Boys of Alabama are a gospel group from Alabama that first formed at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939. The three main vocalists of the group and their drummer/percussionist are all blind. As of 2008, they continue to tour nationally and internationally, led by the soulful Jimmy Lee Carter singing lead vocals. Mr. Carter is one of the original members from the Alabama Institute for Negro Blind and the Happyland Jubilee Singers (the precursor to the Blind Boys of Alabama). In 2006, Clarence Fountain, the group’s former long-time lead vocalist and founding member limited his touring for health reasons. A third founding member, George Scott, died on March 9, 2005 at the age of 75.

Douglas Robert Benson (born May 7, 1964) is an American comedian who has appeared on Comedy Central Presents, Best Week Ever, and most recently as a contestant on Last Comic Standing.

Benson graduated from a community college in San Diego, California, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

While working as a stand-in and extra in movies and TV, he did his first stand-up gig after he and two other friends dared each other to try it. One of them didn’t show up, and the other had signed up too late. Benson claimed that “I went on anyway and did my three minutes of whatever I could come with and people actually laughed”. At the age of 22, Benson became a stand-up comedian.

Dan Zanes was a member of the popular 1980s band, The Del Fuegos and is currently the front man of the Grammy winning group Dan Zanes and Friends.

The fourth album in the family series is House Party (2003), a rambunctious 20-song collection with a diverse instrumentation that, in addition to the usual guitars, banjos, upright bass and drums, includes such instruments as tuba, accordion, pump organ, djembe and saw. Joan Baez is from Staten Island New York and she is coming to Seattle to perform at the Moore Theater. Come for the good old sound of folk music. Here is some info from wikipedia

Little Feat is an American band formed by singer-songwriter, frontman and guitarist Lowell George and keyboard player Bill Payne in 1969 in Los Angeles. Several of the bandmates had played with George in previous bands before. However, after close to a decade, the fast life caught up with George and he passed away. The band broke up shortly after George’s death in August, 1979, and reformed nine years later. Singer and musician Craig Fuller from the band, Pure Prairie League was familiar with George’s vocal style, in particular, and the band re-joined, re-vitalized. However, a change of vocalist in 1993 ushered in the third incarnation of Little Feat. The band plays a mixture of blues, R&B, country, New Orleans funk, and rock and roll.

Dave Attell (born January 18, 1965) is an American stand-up comedian and the host of Comedy Central’s Insomniac with Dave Attell and The Gong Show with Dave Attell.

Insomniac with Dave Attell is Attell’s television show. The show, described by Attell as “Wild On E! for Ugly People”, features Attell walking the streets of the America’s (later the world’s) greatest (and some not-so-great) cities late at night, meeting the people in a haze of ecstatic inebriation. The show occasionally went overseas.

Sara Bareilles is the singer of that hit Love Song. She is coming to Seattle for a show. She is perform at the Moore Theater soon. Here is some info from wikipedia

Bareilles was born and raised in Eureka, California. She participated in the high school choir, Limited Edition, and local community theater musical productions, including her high school’s production of Little Shop of Horrors as Audrey. Bareilles attended UCLA, where she was a member of their a cappella group Awaken A Capella. The group’s rendition of Bareilles’ “Gravity” was featured on the Best of College A Cappella 2004 compilation CD. Sara also stated on MTV’s TRL that she and the band Maroon 5 go back far to their younger days in California when the band was known as Kara’s Flowers. Wainwright has claimed that, like many of his contemporaries, he was inspired musically by seeing Bob Dylan at the Newport Folk Festival in 1962. He was one of many young folksingers tagged as the “new Dylan” in the early 1970s, a fact that he later ruefully satirized in his song “Talking New Bob Dylan” from 1992’s History album.

In September of 2006, Wainwright and musician Joe Henry began composing the music to the Judd Apatow film, Knocked Up, which was released on June 1, 2007. In addition to composing the soundtrack, Wainwright appeared in the film in a supporting role as the protagonists’ obstetrician.

He has also composed music for the new theatre production of Carl Hiassen’s Lucky You, which premieres at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008

Joel E. McHale (born November 20, 1971) is an United States television host best known as the host of The Soup on E! Entertainment Television. He is also a comedian and occasional actor.

McHale was born in Rome, Italy, and is of Irish and Nordic roots. He grew up in Camden County, New Jersey, and the Seattle area, graduating from Mercer Island High School in suburban Seattle in 1990. He received his Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Washington in 1995. While at the University of Washington, McHale belonged to the Theta Chi Fraternity. He lived in Roseburg, Oregon from 1995 to 1997 when he moved back to Washington. Before completing the Professional Actors Training Program at the University of Washington, he became part of the Almost Live! cast, a local sketch-comedy TV show produced in Seattle. From 1993 until 1997 Joel was a member of the improv comedy group at Unexpected Productions, participating in Theatersports! at the Market Theater located in Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle

I don’t know who Josh Blue is so I will leave it up to wikipedia to enlighten you. I do know that he is coming to the Moore Theater here in Seattle.

Josh Blue (born November 27, 1978) is an American comedian who was voted the “Last Comic Standing” on NBC’s reality show Last Comic Standing during its fourth season, which aired May–August, 2006.

Blue was born in Cameroon, West Africa, where his father, a university Romance Languages professor, was teaching in a mission, and grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota and currently resides in Denver, Colorado.

Blue has cerebral palsy and many of his jokes center on living with his disability, how he deals with it and how other people view him. He coined the term “palsy punch” during his final set of the final round of the show, when he said that the palsy punch is effective in a fight because “first of all, they don’t know where the punch is coming from, and second of all, neither do I.” Blue also joked that signing an autograph takes 45 minutes, and that to write down his phone number he has to find a “big ole’ stack of paper.”

Boyz II Men is a four-time Grammy Award-winning American R&B/soul singing group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1988 as a quintet which originally included Marc Nelson, Boyz II Men found fame as a quartet, with members Nathan Morris, Michael McCary, Shawn Stockman, and Wanya Morris, on Motown Records during the early 1990s. Nelson left the group before their first recording to pursue a solo career.

Based on sales, Boyz II Men is the most successful R&B male vocal group of all time. It recorded five #1 R&B hits between 1992 and 1997 and has sold more than 60 million records . The Decemberists are a five-piece indie pop band from Portland, Oregon, fronted by singer/songwriter Colin Meloy . Their debut EP, 5 Songs, was self-released in 2001. Henry Rollins (born February 13, 1961 as Henry Lawrence Garfield) is an American singer and songwriter, spoken word artist, author, and actor. After joining the short-lived Washington, D.C. State of Alert in 1980, Rollins fronted the Californian hardcore punk band Black Flag from 1981 until 1986. Following the band’s breakup, Rollins soon established the record label and publishing company 2.13.61 to release his spoken word albums, as well as forming the Rollins Band, which toured with a number of lineups until 2003 and during 2006.

Since Black Flag, Rollins has embarked on projects covering a variety of media. He has hosted numerous radio shows, such as The Henry Rollins Show and Harmony In My Head, and television shows, such as MTV’s 120 Minutes and Jackass, along with roles in several films. I have never seen Louis C.K. but he sounds funny. Read the info on him below from wikipedia. He is performing at the Moore Theater here in Seattle.

His credits as a writer include Saturday Night Live, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Dana Carvey Show and the Chris Rock Show. His work for the Chris Rock Show was nominated for an Emmy Award three times, including winning “Best Writing in a Variety or Comedy Series” in 1999. He was also nominated for an Emmy Award for his work writing Late Night with Conan O’Brien. However, the feature film, Pootie Tang, born from the sketch show received largely negative reviews.

In 2001, C.K. co-wrote the Chris Rock film Down to Earth.
In 2007 he co-wrote the movie I Think I Love My Wife with Chris Rock. As of late August, C.K. has confirmed he’s shopping around a collection of short stories titled, “Touching Turkeys Tastefully.” To date, he has not found a suitable publisher.

He has also directed and wrote severeal short films and feature-length movies. His short films include: “Caesar’s Salad,” “The Legend of Willie Brown,” a jazz mockumentary, “Ice Cream,” and six short films on a Showtime sketch comedy show called “Sunny Skies.” The feature films that he wrote and directed include: Tomorrow Night, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival among other festivals, and received rave reviews from the L.A. India Arie Simpson (born October 3, 1975), professionally known as India.Arie, is a two-time Grammy Award-winning American soul (neo soul) and R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, guitarist, and flautist.

My Morning Jacket is an American rock band known for their reverb-heavy sound and enthusiastic live shows. Formed in 1998 in Louisville, Kentucky, the band signed with ATO Records four years later.

The band’s moniker comes from a discarded coat lead singer Jim James found while sifting through the remains of his favourite bar after it burned down. The coat was embroidered with the letters “MMJ” on it. [1]

Singer/songwriter/guitarist James’ bandmates include bassist “Two Tone” Tommy, drummer Patrick Hallahan, guitarist/pedal steel guitarist/saxophonist/vocalist Carl Broemel and keyboardist Bo Koster.
