On December 1, 2005, a musical adaptation of the novel (via the film) opened at the Broadway Theater in New York City. It garnered five 2006 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, including Outstanding Broadway Musical and Outstanding New Score. That same year, the show was nominated for eleven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score Written for the Theater, and Best Leading Actress in a Musical (LaChanze). LaChanze did win the Tony Award, though the show itself won no other awards. LaChanze’s win was attributed to the variety of roles for which she had garnered positive attention, as well as for a powerful backstory. In April 2007 American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino was cast for the role of Celie. The Broadway production ended its run on February 24, 2008.

Australian Pink Floyd Show Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Concerts, Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets

I have heard nothing but good things about the the Australian Pink Floyd group. I have head these things from people who have seen them many times. APF is coming to Seattle to play at the Paramount Theatre. Here is some info from wikipedia:

The shows typically follow the format of one hour of music, followed by a 20 minute intermission, resuming with another hour of music, and often concluding with an encore of “Comfortably Numb” and “Run Like Hell”. Sometimes the band will play certain Pink Floyd albums in their entirety during a show, usually as a first set. To date they have performed in this format Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here and on the 2008 US tour, The Wall. When not performing a specific album the band will perform songs from all periods of Pink Floyd’s oeuvre including early material by Syd Barrett and longer songs such as “Dogs” and “Echoes” to later material from the albums The Wall, The Final Cut, Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell.

Recently,[specify] the band has begun to include minor theatrics in some performances which presently consist of Ian Cattell sitting in an armchair watching television whilst singing “Nobody Home”" — an allusion to a scene in the film Pink Floyd The Wall .
