Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Qwest Field Tickets, Sports

The Seahawks are playing the Philadelphia Eagles soon. I hope the Seahawks destroy the Eagles. The game will be at Quest Field in Seattle.

Half-way through the 1931 season, in the NFL, the Frankford Yellow Jackets went bankrupt and ceased operations. After more than a year of searching for a suitable replacement, the NFL awarded the dormant franchise to a syndicate headed by Bert Bell and Lud Wray, in exchange for an entry fee of $2,500. Drawing inspiration from the insignia of the centerpiece of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, the National Recovery Act, Bell and Wray named the new franchise the Philadelphia Eagles. (Neither the Eagles nor the NFL officially regard the two franchises as the same, citing the aforementioned period of dormancy; furthermore, almost no Yellow Jackets players were on the Eagles’ first roster. Some observers, however, believe the two teams should be treated as one). The Eagles, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the defunct Cincinnati Reds, joined the NFL as expansion teams.

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Qwest Field Tickets, Sports

I love to see warm desert folk come to the rainy lands. Arizona Cardinals are coming to Quest Field to be destroyed by the Seahawks. Get your tickets soon.

The Cardinals are the oldest continuous professional American football club in the United States. The team was formed in 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club in Chicago. The club was then called the Racine Normals since they were originally located in Normal Park on Chicago’s Racine Avenue (not Racine, Wisconsin, as mistaken by many). They then changed their name to the Racine Cardinals after they started wearing dark reddish uniforms, inherited from the collegiate Chicago Maroons. This hand-me-down, low-budget situation would prove to be a good metaphor for the team’s chronology.

After becoming a charter member of the NFL in 1920, the club was renamed the Chicago Cardinals, in part to distinguish them from a new franchise that was actually placed in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1944, during the lean years of World War II, the Cardinals temporarily merged into the Pittsburgh Steelers and became one franchise, usually referred to as Card-Pitt, for that one season. The Cardinals moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1960 becoming the St. Louis Cardinals, often called the “Football Cardinals” or the “Grid Birds” to distinguish them from the baseball team, and also sometimes called “The Big Red” during some brushes with success in the 1970s. After an unsuccessful campaign for a new football-only stadium in St. Louis, the club relocated to the Phoenix metropolitan area in 1988, first playing at Sun Devil Stadium in the suburb of Tempe. The team was known as the Phoenix Cardinals before it started using “Arizona” in its name in 1994.

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Qwest Field Tickets, Sports

I only know the 49ers of the mid 90s with Steve Young as the quarterback. I haven’t seen them since then. I hope they are good so the game is exciting. The Seattle Seahawks are playing them at Quest Field soon.

The San Francisco 49ers are a professional American football team. The team plays its home games in San Francisco, California, while the club’s headquarters and practice facility are located in Santa Clara. The 49ers are currently members of the Western Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).

The 49ers began play in 1946 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) and joined the NFL in 1950 after the AAFC merged into the older league. The team currently shares the record for most Super Bowl victories (five) with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys, and is the only team with multiple appearances in the Super Bowl that is undefeated in the NFL title game, with a record of 5-0. The 49ers teams of the 1980s and early 1990s are considered by many to be among the greatest teams in NFL history, particularly the 1984 and 1989 teams.

Melissa Etheridge Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets, Concerts

Melissa Etheridge is a very well known artist and she is coming to Seattle to put on a show. The event is at the Paramount theater. Here is some info from wikipedia:

In 1982, Etheridge moved from Leavenworth, Kansas to Los Angeles to break into the music business. She got some small gigs performing at The Candy Store on the Sunset Strip, as well as two lesbian bars, the Executive Suite in Long Beach and Vermie’s in Pasadena. Some of her early fans from Vermie’s gave her demo tape to Bill Leopold, a friend’s husband who worked in the music business. Etheridge auditioned for Leopold, who was so impressed that he offered to represent her on the spot.

As Etheridge continued performing in lesbian bars in Los Angeles, Leopold arranged for music executives to come see her play. Eventually, she caught the attention of A&M Records, who hired her as a staff songwriter. For two years, Etheridge wrote music for A&M and many of her songs were recorded by mainstream artists. In 1985, Etheridge sent her demo to Olivia Records, a lesbian record label, but was ultimately rejected. She saved the rejection letter, signed by “the women of Olivia,” which was later featured in Intimate Portrait (TV series), the Lifetime Television documentary of her life.

The Phantom of the Opera in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Attractions, Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets

I have never seen this show but I hope to soon. The Phantom of the Opera is one of those shows that needs to be seen at least once. It is playing for several nights at the Paramount Theater here in Seattle. Here is some info from wikipedia:

The Phantom of the Opera (in French, Le Fantôme de l’Opéra) is a French novel by Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serialization in Le Gaulois from September 23, 1909 to January 8, 1910. Some believe it to have been inspired by George du Maurier’s Trilby. Trilby is based on real events related to the Paris Opera House which Leroux investigated, initiated by stories of an opera house ghost. Initially, the novel sold very poorly and was even out of print several times during the twentieth century. Today, it is considered to be a classic of French literature, though it is overshadowed by its many subsequent adaptations. The novel was translated into English in 1911. It has since been adapted many times into and stage productions, the most notable of which were the 1925 film depiction and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1986 musical, starring Michael Crawford as the Phantom, Steve Barton as Raoul, and Sarah Brightman as Christine, which is now the longest running Broadway show in history and the most lucrative entertainment enterprise of all time, its worldwide box office over the past 20 years out-grossing even the highest grossing film in history, Titanic.

Billy Idol Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets, Concerts

I remember this guy from bad 80’s videos and his appearance on The Wedding Singer. Billy Idol is coming to the Paramount Theater here in Seattle and you need to see him. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Billy Idol (born William Michael Albert Broad) is a British hard rock singer-songwriter and musician.

With his spiked peroxide blonde hair, sneering visage and a voice capable of singing growling rock and roll and crooning ballads, Idol became a cultural icon during the 1980’s. He first achieved fame as the lead singer of the first-wave UK punk band Generation X. When that band broke up, Idol moved to New York where he met guitarist Steve Stevens. The two of them set out to make punk music “sexier”, recording a series of hit singles. A series of stylish music videos made him one of the first stars of MTV. His success has waned since the 1990s, but Idol continues to make music.

Avenue Q Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Attractions, Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets

I don’t know anything about this show so I am giving you a little extra from wikipedia. The show is at the Paramount Theater here in Seattle. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Avenue Q is an award-winning musical conceived by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, who wrote the music and lyrics, and directed by Jason Moore. The book is by Jeff Whitty. The show was produced by and opened at the Off-Broadway Vineyard Theatre in March 2003. The production transferred to Broadway in July 2003 and won several Tony Awards, including the award for Best Musical. It is still running on Broadway and holds the position of 28th longest running musical in Broadway history. The show has spawned a 2005 Las Vegas production, a 2006 West End production and various international productions. A U.S. national tour began in July 2007.

The show is largely inspired by (and is in the style of) Sesame Street: Most of the characters in the show are puppets (operated by actors onstage), the set depicts several tenements on a rundown street in an “outer borough” of New York City, both the live characters and puppet characters sing, and short animated video clips are played as part of the story. Also, several characters are recognizably parodies of classic Sesame Street characters: for example, the roommates Rod and Nicky are versions of Sesame Street’s Bert and Ernie, and Trekkie Monster is based on Cookie Monster. However, the characters are in their twenties and thirties and face adult problems instead of those faced by pre-schoolers. The characters use profanity, and the songs concern adult themes. A recurring theme is the central character’s search for a “purpose.” Since the musical soundtrack for it was released, the song “The Internet is For Porn” has become particularly popular on websites such as YouTube and can be downloaded for free from the official website.
