Mamma Mia Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets, Concerts

The Play Mamma Mia is coming to Seattle. It is showing at the Paramount Theater for a bunch of nights. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Mamma Mia! is a musical with a book by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA, composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. It is an example of a jukebox musical, and is notable for popularizing the genre.

Although the title of the musical is taken from the group’s 1975 chart-topper “Mamma Mia”, the musical’s plot has nothing to do with the story of the group itself.

Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, who composed the original music for ABBA, have been involved in the development of the show from the beginning. Anni-Frid Lyngstad has been involved financially in the production, while Agnetha Fältskog has not, though she was present at the Swedish premiere and final show.

The musical includes such hits as “Super Trouper”, “Dancing Queen”, “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, “Thank You for the Music”, “Money Money Money”, “The Winner Takes It All”, “Voulez Vous”, “I Have A Dream” and “SOS”. It had been seen by over 10 million people worldwide as of July 2003. Estimates of 2007, is that 30 million have now seen Mamma Mia!. Since its opening in 1999, the production has grossed US$2.0 billion in earnings, making it the most successful musical in history.

A film version of Mamma Mia!, starring Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep began filming in June 2007 and is scheduled for a Summer 2008 release.

Rufus Wainwright Tickets in Seattle

Rufus Wainwright is coming to the Paramount theater soon. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born July 22, 1973) is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter. Since 1998, he has recorded five albums of original music, several EPs, and numerous tracks included on compilations and film soundtracks. He is the son of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, brother of Martha Wainwright, and the half-brother of Lucy Wainwright Roche.

Through weekly shows at Cafe Sarajevo, Wainwright became a fixture on the Montreal club circuit and eventually cut a series of demo tapes produced by Pierre Marchand (who also produced Wainwright’s later album, Poses) - DreamWorks executive Lenny Waronker acquired the demo tapes and signed Wainwright to his label. The singer moved to New York City in the spring of 1996 and began performing regularly at Club Fez, building a loyal local audience. He relocated to Los Angeles that fall, and began recording his first studio album, 1998’s Rufus Wainwright.

Wainwright’s self-titled debut received critical acclaim; Rolling Stone magazine recognized it as one of the best albums of the year and named the singer “Best New Artist” of the year. Wainwright toured with Sean Lennon in the summer of 1998 and began his first headline tour later that year. In December 1998, he appeared in a Gap commercial directed by Phil Harder, performing Frank Loesser’s “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”. The promotion increased dramatically both his visibility and his record sales. On March 1, 1999 Wainwright started a headlining tour at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, New Jersey.

By: Spencer    Category: Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets, Concerts

Queensryche is a Seattle band and they are coming home. They are playing at the Paramount Theater. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Queensrÿche (pronounced /ˈkwiːnzraɪk/) is an American heavy metal / progressive metal band formed in 1981 in Bellevue, Washington. The band has released nine studio albums and an EP and, as of 2007, continues to tour and record.

Queensrÿche has sold over 20 million albums worldwide including over 11 million albums and videos in the United States

he foundations for Queensrÿche began in the early 1980s. Guitarist Michael Wilton and drummer Scott Rockenfield were members of a band called Cross+Fire, who covered songs from popular heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Before long Cross+Fire added guitarist Chris DeGarmo and bassist Eddie Jackson to their lineup, and changed their name to The Mob. The Mob, who were without a singer, recruited Geoff Tate to sing for them at a local rock festival. At the time, Tate was already in a band called Babylon. After Babylon broke up Tate performed a few shows with The Mob, but left because he was not interested in performing heavy metal.

Marilyn Manson Tickets in Seattle

By: Spencer    Category: Paramount Theater Seattle Tickets, Concerts

Marilyn Manson is coming to Seattle for a show. I don’t know how people couldn’t like him. He is a pretty man…. I guess. Come to the Paramount Theater for the show. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Brian Hugh Warner (born 5 January 1969), better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American musician and artist known for his outrageous stage persona and image as the lead singer of the eponymous band. His stage name was formed from the names of actress Marilyn Monroe and convicted murderer Charles Manson

Warner formed Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in Florida in 1989 (the name was shortened to Marilyn Manson in 1992). While with The Spooky Kids, he was involved with Jeordie White (also known as Twiggy Ramirez) and Stephen Gregory Bier Jr. (also known as Madonna Wayne Gacy) in two side-projects: Satan on Fire, a faux-Christian death metal ensemble where he played bass, and drums in Mrs. Scabtree, a collaborative band formed with White and then girlfriend Jessicka (vocalist with the band Jack Off Jill)as a way to combat contractual agreements that prohibited Marilyn Manson from playing in certain clubs. In the summer of 1993, the band drew the attention of Trent Reznor. Reznor produced their 1994 debut album, Portrait of an American Family and released it on his Nothing Records label. The band began to develop a cult following, which grew larger with the release of Smells Like Children in 1995. That EP yielded the band’s first big MTV hit with “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)”, a cover of the 1983 Eurythmics hit. Antichrist Superstar (co-produced by Trent Reznor) was an even greater success. Three of the band’s albums have been awarded platinum certification, three more gold, and the band has seen three of its releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums.
